Classroom Picture Sneak Peak #2

I’ve got a few more pictures of my classroom to share with you. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to get into our classrooms until about two weeks before school starts, so we don’t get a ton of time to set up. Also, we are required to tear our entire room down each year, so setting it all back up is a lot of work.

This year, I invested in a lot of tissue poms. They are so fun and bright and when hung from the ceiling, they add so much to a classroom.

Here are some of the before picture of what I walked into.

I spent the summer reorganizing and labeling all of my books. Boy was this a fun job! ;)

Here are some snapshots of my Homework Hotspot.

You can read more The Homework Hotspot HERE and you can watch a video on it HERE.

Below is my student’s lunch choice board. You can read more about this HERE.

Below is a photo of my cozy corner. I got rid of my teacher desk this year, and I’m so excited about it. This area is a work in progress, but I love it so far!

Here are some pictures of my library and mini-lesson area. This is one of my favorite areas in the classroom. There is so much natural light that comes in from the floor to ceiling windows!

Can you see the picture frames I hung in the background (above)? I also hung some around my sink area. You can read more about this HERE.

Thanks for letting me slowly share some of my classroom pics!

Wow.. your room is awesome! I admire your style and desire to be organized and make it look really nice as well as be practical! I am a new teacher and hope to have the time to do things like this someday!

  2. Thank you, you’re too kind! You will have time. It gets easier every year, I promise! Good luck on your new adventures!

  3. Such a great looking classroom! I love the colorful baskets you use in your classroom library. Are they from Really Good Stuff? Also, where do you get the heavy duty velcro you used to put up picture frames? That’s such a great idea, I would love to do that too!

  4. I love the labels you used for your book basekts! Did you make those or purchase them?

  5. Hi Amanda- I made them! Thank you! I would be more than happy to share them if you are interested in them!

    1. I am interested in the labels from your library. I like how simple they are against the colorful baskets. I have colorful baskets in my library as well and was looking for something to unify the look through out my room. Black works best!

  6. Your students, room and everything looks awesome!

Question for you how do you copyright your stuff? What did that cost you?

  7. I would love it if you would share them with me! That is the one thing I still haven’t done in my room and we have been back for 3 weeks! It was one of those things where I said, “I’ll get them typed up the first week” and here we are and there are still no labels! =( In fact, I’m just now getting back around to seeing that you responded! If you could email them to me that would be great! My email is aamattson@gmail.com. Thanks!!! =)

    1. Aww thanks Courtney! Although I think 5th graders are just taller 3rd graders! They’re very similar, so don’t stress too much! :)

  8. I just discovered your blog and will be starting my first year of 5th grade this year. (I taught primary previously.) Thank you for being such an awesome resource! I’ll definitely be following you from now on. I also love your library labels. Would you still have them available to email?

  9. Hi, Kristine! I am reorganizing my classroom library by genre for the coming year. I plan to purchase book baskets from Really Good Stuff, and I was wondering what size and how many book baskets you find work best for you and your students to keep track of all the genres. I also teach fifth grade, so I am sure we have similar texts to organize and store. Thank you, as always, for your help and fabulous resources!

  10. @Catherine-I appreciate your kind comments! :) If you can, try to buy the heavy duty book baskets. I found that when I went cheap, a lot of them ended up cracking and I had to replace them (not fun!). The size of the baskets depends on your personal library and how much room you have to store your books. Are you using the baskets for chapter books or picture books? Also, think about how you plan to organize your books in each basket (genre, authors, levels, etc.). Then, depending on how many books you will need to put in each basket, you will have a better idea on which size to buy. I hope that helps! If you need more help, send me an email at nannini.kristine@yahoo.com. Thank you!

  11. Hello! I just started following you’re blog as I’m moving from K to 5th at a new school year and felt so overwhelmed on where to start. I say a picture of your book bin labels and love them! Are you still willing to share them? Thank you for all of your great ideas and posts to help us other teachers out!
